Mr Philip Roberts

Legal Practitioner Director (commercial litigation), Senior Solicitor, Notary Public

Philip founded RobertsLaw in Mudgeeraba over 41 years ago and since that time has worked tirelessly within the Gold Coast community.  As a Senior Solicitor, Philip has extensive experience in many practice areas including Commercial and Civil Litigation, Business Law, Succession Planning, and Conveyancing.

Philip uses his decades of experience to deliver commercial solutions for the firm’s clients no matter how complex the matter may seem.

Philip has held various roles within the community, including being a foundation member of the Mudgeeraba Chamber of Commerce.  Philip is a past President of the Gold Coast District Law Association and was co-founder of the Gold Coast Community Legal Advice Centre, with the Dean of Law of Bond University. He was one of the founders of the Bond University Rugby Club in 1989.  He was also a co-founder of the Mudgeeraba Rotary Club and Emmanuel College, Carrara. Philip served on the Board of King’s Christian College as Chairman for 8 years.  Philip is also past President of the Gold Coast Bridge Club.

Mr Tony Roberts


Mr AR (Tony)Roberts has joined our law practice as Special Counsel. 

Tony is our Principal’s, Mr Philip Roberts, brother and brings to our clients a fabulous depth of experience in both the legal and business fields, as a lawyer and former business owner.

He began practice in 1969 and was admitted to Partnership at Morris Fletcher and Cross (MF&C), now Minter Ellison, in 1972. He remained a Partner of MF&C for 19 years, resigning to become joint Managing Director of a large private company.  After that, Tony spent a further 5 years practicing law before venturing into his own business interests where he remained for approximately 25 years, mainly in the retirement village sector.

As a lawyer, Tony specialised firstly in succession law and then taxation and corporate law, with specific interests in media law and the sugar industry.

Ms Amanda Tomlinson

Amanda has more than 15 years’ experience as a Solicitor practicing in Family and Estate Law. As the Gold Coast Hinterland’s only Accredited Specialist in Family Law and Succession Law, Amanda has assisted many clients from the local and wider community achieve the very best outcomes available to them.

Amanda provides a personal and tailored approach to all of her clients and, whilst she has a particular interest in complex Family Law property matters, she is dedicated to achieving equitable legal solutions in all facets of both Family and Estate Law.

After completing a dual Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Business (Accounting) degree, Amanda undertook a Post-Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at Bond University and was admitted as a legal practitioner in both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2005.

Amanda currently serves on the Management Committee of My Community Legal Inc and is a member of the Queensland Law Society, Family Law Practitioner’s Association of Queensland, Gold Coast District Law Association and My Community Legal Inc.5

Mrs Lauren Van Bavel

C.Dec, Conveyancing manager

Lauren manages our Conveyancing division covering all areas including house/land/unit Contracts, Community Titles Schemes and Off the Plan development Contracts.  In this role she also provides support to our Property Lawyer.

She brings extensive knowledge and experience to the office and has over 25 years’ experience in this field.   Her understanding of the importance of every aspect of our client’s sale or purchase ensures a thorough and smooth transaction.  Clients can be confident that they are in good hands with Lauren.

She enjoys the entire conveyancing process and providing clients with ease of mind during their transaction.

Mrs Kim Minogue


Kim is a legal office all-rounder working within her role as Paralegal at Robertslaw, taking direction from the lawyers.

In this role Kim wears many hats supporting our Solicitors in the areas of Family Law, Deceased Estates, Wills & Powers of Attorney and Property Law.

She has vast experience within the Conveyancing field completing her studies in Brisbane, and now has over 15 years’ experience.  Her role in the office started in Conveyancing but as her knowledge and experience expanded, she was moved into her current Paralegal position.  Conveyancing is still close at hand as she manages this division on Mondays and provides backup to Lauren on the other days, thus keeping her skill in this area up to date.

Kim’s knowledge and experience helps clients feel at ease when completing any matter in our office. She is always available to answer your questions or assist you.
